AIPLA's IP Transactions Committee is hosting an IP Transactions Bootcamp immediately following the AUTM Annual Meeting in Seattle, WA. The AUTM Annual Meeting is a comprehensive program for University Technology Managers. For more information, visit their Conference website.
What to Expect
This in-person-only bootcamp is designed to provide practical insights and strategies for professionals working in intellectual property transactions. The day features a comprehensive agenda including:
- Panels and CLE Sessions: Learn about Working with Tech Transfer Offices, Strategies for successful collaborations between nonprofits and industry, and Protecting and monetizing an AI asset.
- Drafting and Negotiating Tips: Get practical advice on drafting and negotiating strategic collaboration and license agreements.
- Hands-on Workshop: Participate in a Mock licensing negotiation to put your skills to the test.
- Networking: Conclude the day with a dedicated Networking reception.
The cost to attend is $145 per person for AIPLA and AUTM members, which includes breakfast/coffee breaks and the networking reception (lunch is not provided). Non-member (either AIPLA or AUTM) - $595

Paul Ragusa is a partner in the Intellectual Property section of the New York office of Baker Botts, and co-chair of the firm’s IP Transactions Practice Group. His practice encompasses patent litigation, inter-partes reviews, IP transactions and licensing. His diverse technical experience spans audiovisual compression and transmission, lithium-ion and solid-state batteries, artificial intelligence, techniques for delivering pharmaceutical products and medical devices. He is the programs subcommittee Chair of the AIPLA’s Standards and Open-Source Committee, a Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Owners’ (IPO) Standards Setting Committee, and serves on the Advisory Board at IP Litigator, using those positions to address the practical implications of important changes to the law. -

Conna A. Weiner, Esq., FCIArb brings to her U.S. and international mediation and arbitration practice a unique combination of litigation, transactional and in-house experience after roles with internationally known outside counsel and multinational life sciences (pharmaceuticals, medical device, diagnostics, vaccines and other therapeutics) and health care companies.
