It is designed for experienced in-house attorneys and new in-house attorneys learning to manage new corporate environments and challenges not taught in law schools or private practice. The Institute also helps private practice attorneys, especially associates, prepare for potential in-house career moves. The program also provides valuable networking opportunities to connect with each other and learn from each other's experiences. This online, CLE-program spans two half-days, from Noon – 5:00 pm Eastern and includes 3 one-hour education sessions and a networking session each day.

Arlington, VA. November 25, 2025 - The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) submitted comments in response to the UK IPO’s Designs Consultation published in September 2025 (the “Consultation”).

Arlington, VA. October 8, 2025 - The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) submitted a letter in support for S. 1546, the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act.

On September 18, 2025, the U.S. Senate confirmed John A. Squires as Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

On February 26, 2025, the Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision in Dewberry Group, Inc. v. Dewberry Engineers Inc. The opinion is in line with the amicus brief filed by AIPLA on September 6, 2024.

On November 20, 2024, the USPTO published its final rule, “Setting and Adjusting Patent Fees During Fiscal Year 2025,” which will take effect on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Since the April 3, 2024, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to establish or increase certain patent fees, AIPLA has actively engaged with its members by gathering feedback, submitting written comments, meeting with USPTO officials, and hosting informational webinars to keep members informed of the changes. As the implementation date approaches, members have raised additional questions, prompting AIPLA to seek clarification from the USPTO. Read below the results of our outreach with the Office.
