    Coke Morgan Stewart is the former Acting Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the USPTO. Prior to joining the Regent University School of Law faculty in 2021, Ms. Stewart served as the Acting Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Deputy Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In that role, Ms. Stewart helped manage one of the largest intellectual property offices in the world and helped oversee the agency’s more than 14,000 employees and $4 billion budget.

In addition, he advises on material R&D transactions and IP litigations, and actively works with external trade associations to ensure we have meaningful IP policies. Previously, he led the R&D Legal team responsible for drafting and negotiating complex agreements for J&J’s Innovative Medicine companies.
