AIPLA Members and Friends:
Welcome to the 2023 Spring Meeting! We are excited to be holding our third consecutive, fully in-person, meeting since emerging from the pandemic. With Seattle as the backdrop, #aiplaSM23 will highlight hot topics in intellectual property, provide ample networking opportunities and social gatherings, and showcase the work of our 60+ committees.
There will be something for everyone at the Spring Meeting, whether your practice area focuses on patents, copyrights, trademarks, or trade secrets, our innovative programs and CLE will provide key insights and emerging trends in IP. In addition to the events you have come to know and love at AIPLA, including the Women in IP Law Breakfast, Corporate Practice Breakfast, Diversity Reception, and New Members Reception, the Spring Meeting will cover topics including:
- Non-competition covenants in the age of remote and hybrid work
- Enablement displays through diagrams, YouTube videos, and other media demonstration compilations before PTAB
- Deep dive into trade secret evidence and trials
- Cutting edge copyright issues
- Protecting your trade dress overseas
- AI, NFTs, and machine learning
- Patent subject matter eligibility
- IP abroad, and more
We are pleased to feature our keynote speakers, Noreen Krall, former Vice President and Chief Litigation Officer at Apple, and Lance Lopes, Executive Vice President and General Counsel for the Seattle Kraken NHL Hockey Team.
As usual, you will hear substantive content and practical insights to guide your professional development. Whether you are a newer practitioner, or have been practicing for decades, there will be great opportunities to network with fellow IP practitioners.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Emerald City!
Brian H. Batzli, President
Kim Van Voorhis, Officer-in-Charge, 2023 Spring Meeting, AIPLA First Vice-President
