Kim Vines, Ph.D. is a patent attorney with a scientific background in chemistry and more than a decade of experience advising innovators on U.S. and international patent strategy. Before entering the legal profession, Kim worked as a chemist in the Boston area, giving her practical insight into the technologies she now helps protect.

 Her practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution, global portfolio development, and preparing non‑infringement and validity analyses. Kim has worked with clients across the innovation spectrum, including universities, start‑ups, mid‑size pharmaceutical companies, major chemical manufacturers, and Fortune 50 corporations.

 Kim is active in the patent‑law community and serves as an editor and contributing author for AIPLA’s Chemical Practice Chronicles. She has also recently published articles in Law360 and The Patent Lawyer Newsletter on topics at the intersection of chemistry and patent law.
