Mauricio Uribe is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine in the Seattle office and Co-Chair of the Patent Group. He is a strategic advisor to companies at the forefront of technology and innovation, leveraging three decades of industry-recognized experience in intellectual property law. He provides comprehensive counseling across all aspects of IP law, including patent prosecution, portfolio development, trade secrets protection, and enforcement. Mauricio's business-focused approach is further informed by eight years of experience as an in-house attorney, where he guided clients from the earliest rounds of financing through IPOs and beyond.

Mauricio develops patent and trademark portfolios for a diverse clientele, from individual inventors to the top of the Fortune 500 list, covering industries from financial services and software to consumer electronics, automotive, and medical devices. He counsels clients on patentability, due diligence, complex litigation, and global licensing. A trained computer and electrical engineer, Mauricio understands both the business and technical sides of IoT, virtualization, network communications, content distribution and streaming, AI/ML, and distributed ledger technology, among others.

For more than 20 years, Mauricio has engaged in numerous licensing strategy and license negotiations and related litigations for various clients, including numerous worldwide standard essential patent licensing matters.  He has technical and legal experience covering a full range of technical standards including standards directed to wireless communications, multi-media content (encoding/decoding/transmission), network communications, and the like. Mauricio has helped clients set up licensing programs, identify and cultivate essential patent assets, develop responses to licensing offers and develop holistic licensing programs.
