Theresa Stadheim is a seasoned patent attorney who focuses her practice on drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a wide range of technologies, including wireless communications, artificial intelligence, machine learning, memory devices, and computer architecture. With a background as an electrical engineer in both hardware and software development, she brings a deep technical perspective to her legal work.

Theresa has worked on machine learning-related patent applications for well known companies, spanning sectors from insurance and finance to consumer goods. Theresa is also an expert on wireless technologies, and particularly on wireless and cellular standards- related technologies.

She is also a frequent speaker on complex areas of patent law, including standard-setting organizations, written description requirements, and functional claiming. Theresa presents to audiences, offering practical insights into navigating the challenges of patent drafting and prosecution in these evolving and often contentious areas.

Theresa holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Norwich University. Before entering law, she engineered software, firmware, and electronic systems at companies like John Deere, Case New Holland, and leading printing device manufacturers.

She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as in Minnesota and Illinois. Her professional involvement includes serving as a former Patent Law Committee Chair of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
