Schick, Ian

Ian C. Schick is Co-Founder and CEO of Paximal, an agentic AI platform for patent drafting, and has worked on patent automation since 2017, when he co-founded Specifio — the first commercially available mass-content generator in legal tech — which was acquired in 2024. He practiced for a decade in law firm patent prosecution, principally at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and has since founded Draft Builders and co-founded Idea Clerk. He is a non-residential Fellow at CodeX, the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, where he leads the Machine-Generated Legal Documents project, co-authored Wolters Kluwer's Artificial Intelligence and Patents treatise, and is a perennial IAM Strategy 300 honoree; he holds a J.D. with an IP concentration from the University of San Diego School of Law, a Ph.D. in nano-scale optics, and a B.S. in engineering physics from the Colorado School of Mines.
