Robert Miros is a designer, engineer, entrepreneur and executive. He presently serves as CEO for 3rd Stone Design, a company he founded 20 years ago in Northern California. The company engages in development and commercialization of health focused products for unmet global needs. 3rd Stone Design consults for clients ranging from medical device-ups to non-profits to multi-nationals. Projects typically involve complex integration of technology, product design, program management, IP creation, and design control for regulated markets. Current efforts are focused on developing medical devices for neonatal care in Africa, low cost, accessible women’s health diagnostics, and a portable, connected vaccine refrigerator for last mile delivery. The firm has won international design competitions, prestigious grants from notable foundations and government programs, and launched some of the most successful global health products of the past decade.
In addition to running 3rd Stone Design, Robert is Chair of the Board of a non-profit distribution company, Hatch Technologies, that provides medical equipment to underserved markets in Sub-Saharan Africa. Organized as a 501(c)3 in the USA, Hatch conducts business in more than a dozen countries.
Robert holds degrees in Design Engineering and International Relations from Stanford University. He was a Lecturer in Stanford’s Engineering School in the mid-90’s, and guest faculty at Brown University in 2002-3, teaching Entrepreneurship. A prolific inventor, Robert holds over 40 patents for medical devices, housewares, and renewable energy inventions.
