Melwani, Dinesh

Dinesh N. Melwani is a partner at Bookoff McAndrews (BoMc). He works closely with clients to develop patent strategies that protect their innovative technologies and maximize the potential for commercial success. In addition to preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, Dinesh is often called upon for his ability to translate IP risks into business risks, and provide strategic guidance and oversight. In this regard, Dinesh studies competitor patent portfolios to counsel clients on contemplated products and potential design-arounds. IAM Patent 1000 describes Dinesh as a “diligent, responsive, and perceptive patent attorney who demonstrates a keen eye for the most successful prosecution approaches.” He also has considerable experience in preparing patentability, validity, noninfringement, and clearance opinions.

In addition, Dinesh has spent many years assisting clients evaluate potential acquisitions, conduct due diligence investigations, and develop revenue streams from licensing their technologies. Dinesh is experienced in U.S. district court litigation, European Patent Office opposition proceedings, and contentious proceedings before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, including interference and post-issuance proceedings. To that end, Dinesh has taken a leading role in growing BoMc’s practice before the Patent Trial and Appeal (PTAB) board.
