Olympus Corporation of the Americas | IP Team Leader

Mark Lavender is an experienced intellectual property attorney with a background in biomedical and mechanical engineering and a passion for medical technologies.  He currently leads the IP team at Olympus Corporation of the Americas, focusing on strategic IP management and innovation.

Mark holds a J.D. and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.  His legal career includes roles at Abbott Laboratories, St. Jude Medical, K&L Gates, and other firms, where he developed expertise in patent preparation, prosecution, searching, analysis, and litigation. Mark also previously worked as a biomedical engineer at Aastrom Biosciences where he focused on bioreactor designs for clinical applications.

He is actively involved in community service, including volunteering for the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association and the Children's Law Center of Minnesota.  Mark is also a speaker and published author in the field of intellectual property.
