Hiruta, Atsushi

Atsushi Hiruta is a chief director of the IP division JETRO NY and working as an IP Attaché from Japan Patent Office (JPO) since July 2023. He joined JPO in 2002 as a patent examiner in the chemical field. He also experienced some administrative positions overseeing such as policy planning for the patent examination, patent examination guideline reform, patent information provision via a public database named J-PlatPat. He was in charge of reviewing Manual for Trial and Appeal Proceedings for 1 year when he was an administrative patent judge. He stayed at Boston University School of Law as a visiting researcher from 2011 to 2013.
