Erica A. Fishel, Ph.D., J.D. is Counsel at GTC Law Group, where she advises clients on patent prosecution, portfolio development, and intellectual property strategy, with a particular focus on life sciences and biotechnology. A registered patent attorney and molecular biologist, Erica works with universities, research institutions, emerging companies, and other innovators to develop patent strategies that align scientific innovation with long-term commercial objectives.

Erica's practice spans a broad range of technologies, including molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, therapeutics, diagnostics, agricultural biotechnology, and technologies at the intersection of biology and computational science. She counsels clients throughout the patent lifecycle, from invention disclosure and initial portfolio development through U.S. and international patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analyses, due diligence, and strategic portfolio management.

Before entering private practice, Erica led technology transfer activities for a plant science research organization, working closely with scientists and institutional leadership on invention evaluation, patent strategy, licensing, and commercialization.

Erica earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. She is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice in Missouri and New Jersey. She is also pursuing an M.S. in Regulatory Science at Johns Hopkins University.
