Chernoff, Michael

Michael Chernoff is Director of IP Strategy at Clerq (formerly NLPatent), the AI clerk for patent professionals, where he leads work on the company’s agentic patent research workflows and advises on product direction and market strategy. He has spent more than three decades in the patent field, beginning as an examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and going on to lead Accenture’s patent group and serve as Chief Intellectual Property Officer of MDB Capital Group. At Murgitroyd he led the Strategic IP Solutions group, building and training the in-house patent search and analytics team and consulting for some of the most innovative companies in the U.S., working directly with internal teams and outside counsel to execute IP strategy. He has been named to IAM’s Strategy 300 list of the world’s leading IP strategists for twelve consecutive years. Michael holds a J.D. from George Mason University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and lives in the Washington, D.C. area.
