Microsoft | Senior Corporate Counsel

Sonja Carlson is Senior Corporate Counsel supporting Microsoft’s Cloud + AI engineering groups, and Co-Chair of the Women’s Employee Resource Group (400+ membership) for Microsoft’s legal group. She is lead counsel for the Dynamics 365 Customer Service group and the Project “Sophia” engineering group (focused on generative AI innovation), advising on a range of cutting-edge technologies and issues, including Artificial Intelligence, data use and privacy, Intellectual Property, and Competition Law. Previously, Sonja supported Microsoft’s global sales/partner organization on complex strategic deals and was an associate at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP focused on mergers and acquisitions and privacy and data security issues in international transactions. She received her BA in Economics from Columbia University and graduated summa cum laude from Seattle University School of Law with a full merit scholarship from the Berle Center on Corporations, Law & Society.
