Written December 6, 2020

On December 3, 2020 World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Director General Daren Tang announced the newly appointed Deputy Directors General and Assistant Directors General, including former AIPLA Executive Director Lisa K. Jorgenson who will serve as Deputy Director General, Patents and Technology Center.

“The Sector leads play an important role as senior leaders of the Organization. Collectively, and together with me, we set the tone at the top. As a team, we are responsible not just for strategy and leadership but also translating strategy into concrete plans, initiatives, and actions,” said Mr. Tang.

AIPLA has worked closely with WIPO for a number of years and regularly sends observer delegations to WIPO meetings which non-governmental organizations are permitted to attend, and we regularly exchange information about programs affecting the protection of intellectual property laws and systems.

“Having served as Executive Director of AIPLA and in the corporate IP sector, Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the leadership team at WIPO. We congratulate her and wish her well in her new role,” said Joe Re, AIPLA President.

Ms. Jorgenson will assume her new duties beginning January 1, 2021. For more information about WIPO, please visit www.wipo.int
