AIPLA Issues Statement on Senator Thom Tillis's Patent Eligibility Restoration Act of 2022 August 3, 2022

ARLINGTON, Virginia, August 3, 2022 - The American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) released the following statement on the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act of 2022 introduced by Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC):

A patent system that provides certainty and reliability promotes the development and investment in innovation, allowing inventions to come to market and benefit everyone.  The introduction of this bill recognizes there is currently a significant problem challenging our country’s innovation system and the need for legislation to address this problem. We wish to express great appreciation for the tremendous hard work and leadership of Senator Tillis and his staff, and we are grateful for the thoughtful consideration.

AIPLA President Patrick Coyne said, “More work is needed, yet this is a substantial and positive step.  We look forward to considering the legislation further and we welcome additional discussions of this important issue.”
