For more than 25 years, I have tried complex patent and commercial disputes before juries, judges, and arbitration panels across the country, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Clients turn to me to take command of complicated cases and present them persuasively at trial. My brand of advocacy focuses on a deep understanding the people and business decisions behind a dispute. The keys to success are compelling human themes, credible witnesses, and evidence that motivates judges and juries to want to find for my clients. When it comes to technical cases, my background in engineering physics helps me master the technology and explain it clearly to judges and juries. Recent trial successes include: • Charter Communications (2025): A complete defense jury verdict in the Eastern District of Texas against patent claims seeking more than $1 billion. • Lindt, Ghirardelli, and Russell Stover (2024): A $33.45 million jury verdict against GXO in the Western District of Missouri over a failed warehouse software implementation. The jury awarded all compensatory damages sought on fraud, contract, and related claims and rejected all of GXO’s counterclaims. • Boston Scientific (2023): A $158 million jury verdict against Cook Medical in the Southern District of Indiana, including a finding of willful patent infringement. My practice spans all manner of legal claims, including patent, contract, fraud, trade secret, false advertising, and unfair competition. My clients are in a wide range of industries, including telecommunications, software and computer systems, logistics, medical devices, and consumer products. I have special experience with disputes involving third-party logistics (3PL) providers, warehouse and distribution operations, warehouse management systems, and failed facility launches. I understand how operational promises, software performance, and implementation failures translate into business losses—and how to prove those losses at trial. I also provide counselling on litigation risk, settlements, licensing, intellectual property valuation, and corporate transaction due diligence. I have handled appeals and coordinated litigations across U.S. and international jurisdictions. I believe that tight-knit, focused legal teams are the key to success, and I work to develop lawyers who are experts at their craft and experts on their clients. I invest in mentoring, training, and hands-on courtroom experience.
