Program Highlights

The AIPLA New Lawyers' Committee is presenting a CLE seminar on patent restriction practice before the USPTO.  Led by two very experienced patent prosecutors, including a former USPTO examiner, the topics will include: an overview of what restriction practice is (including a discussion regarding the distinction between species and restriction requirements); what types of claims are most likely to encounter a requirement for restriction or election of species; post-election prosecution issues and strategies; how to strategize with clients when dealing with claims that could potentially draw a requirement for restriction (including times when a patentee may actually want a restriction); and strategies for avoiding, provoking, or traversing a requirement for restriction or an election of species.
Space is limited at each location.
