Hi All - Do you have an idea for a topic for the AIPLA 2017 Mid-Winter Institute?  The 2017 MWI will be February 1-4 2017 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Rather than having an overarching theme, there will be short (15 minutes), high powered, advanced topics in IP law and practice presentations.  The Women in IP Committee has the opportunity to submit five advanced topics for a portion of a track session.

Please send any and all ideas for topics to Randi Karpinia and Bea Swedlow by February 15.  If you have ideas for speakers for your suggested topics, please also include that information.

AIPLA Online Programs Committee would like to invite your input as they begin to structure AIPLA’s online CLE programming for the final quarter of 2015 and moving into 2016.
Online programming, or webinar, coordination offers a unique opportunity to promote AIPLA committees and contribute to AIPLA’s mission of providing our members and the public with quality education benefiting a strong intellectual property system, as well as keeping our members abreast of an ever-evolving legal environment.
How can members of the Women in IP committee contribute?
Inform the Online Programs Committee of those subjects, current and forthcoming, that are of importance to you, and which may have a broad appeal to AIPLA members. Contact Randi Karpinia if you have any questions or suggestions and she will pass the information along to the Online Programs Committee.

Women in IP Law Committee Speakers Bank

Dear Committee Members,
In June 2014, AIPLA’s Women in IP Law Committee began working with AIPLA to increase participation by our members in the AIPLA educational programs as speakers and moderators at stated meetings, webinars, and other events by building a database of our members who are interested in speaking and/or moderating opportunities, including their expertise and topics of preferences. This way, when the right opportunity comes along, you will be considered as a potential speaker or moderator.
Today, the Women in IP Law Speakers Bank includes nearly 150 potential speakers and moderators, and we have assisted in selecting speakers and moderators for AIPLA’s 2015 Mid-Winter meeting, 2015 Spring meeting, 2015 Annual Meeting, the Corporate Practice Committee monthly lunches, and numerous seminars and webinars.
If you are interested in speaking or moderating at an AIPLA event, whether at a live meeting or an educational webinar, and want to be included into our database, please fill out the survey provided in the link below and you will be contacted to work out the details. The database information will only be used for the stated purpose of finding speakers and moderators for the AIPLA events, and will not be shared otherwise.
Please note, if you have already completed the survey, your information has been entered into our database, and you do not need to complete the survey again.
If you have any questions, contact Jessica Ergmann at
Thank you in advance for your participation!
Warm Regards,
Women in IP Committee

The Women in IP Law Speakers Bank provides those coordinating  AIPLA stated meetings, webinars, and other events a database of members who have expressed interest in speaking and/or moderating opportunities, including their contact information, areas of expertise, and speaking preferences.  Today, the Women in IP Law Speakers Bank already includes 77 potential speakers and moderators, and the number is growing.
If you are in need of a speaker or moderator, please contact Jessica Ergmann at and Yelena Morozova at  Please provide the event details and the topic, and we will provide you with a list of potential names that match your criteria.
