Announcement Description

The presentations by the USPTO and EPO on the Global Dossier and the presentations by Tony Venturino and Larry Welch on Harmonization are available on the Committee Documents page.

The Patent Relations with the USPO and the International and Foreign Law Committees and the Harmonization Task Force will have a joint committee meeting addressing the Global Dossier and the current state of Harmonization. The meeting will be on Friday, October 23 from 3:30-5:30 in the Maryland Ballroom, Lower Level.
The Global Dossier is a proposed set of business services aimed at modernizing the global patent system and delivering benefits to all stakeholders through a single portal/user interface.  The Global Dossier will provide all stakeholders with secure, one-stop access to file histories of related applications across the IP5 (EPO, JPO, KIPO, SIPO and USPTO), the five largest patent offices in the world.  It provides  a single, secure point of access for the management of dossier and examination information.  It increases efficiency and predictability of global patent family prosecution.  It saves time and cost for patent applicants by enabling and streamlining Office procedures among different IP Offices and, as such, will allow for more IP to be protected.
