AIPLA Comments on the Appointment of Russ Slifer as USPTO Deputy Director

March 25, 2015, Arlington, VA, -- With the appointment today of Russ Slifer as Deputy Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the USPTO continues its progress in finalizing the leadership team, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) recognized today.
"With a full complement of leaders in place, we are encouraged that the office will have the resources and leadership required to find the right balance of interests for the public and the agency's diverse array of stakeholders. We have worked with Russ as Director of the Denver Office of the USPTO, and we look forward to doing all we can to help him in his new role. We congratulate him on his appointment" said AIPLA Executive Director Lisa Jorgenson.
This appointment, together with the recent confirmation for Michelle Lee as the Director, and Daniel Marti as the IP Enforcement Coordinator, provides encouragement that important guidance for the IP system will be well provided.

AIPLA, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, was founded in 1897 to maintain a high standard of professional ethics, to aid in the improvement in laws relating to intellectual property and in their proper interpretation by the courts, and to provide legal education to the public and to its members on intellectual property issues. AIPLA is a national bar association constituted primarily of lawyers in private and corporate practice, in government service, and in the academic community.
