2016 Annual Meeting Bulletin

Intellectual property practitioners from around the globe convened at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, Oct. 27-29 for the AIPLA 2016 Annual Meeting. Approximately 2,000 were in attendance to take advantage of a full agenda of CLE programs, committee meetings, and networking events.

AIPLA Welcomes its 109th President Mark L. Whitaker

A partner in the Washington, DC-based firm Morrison & Foerster LLP, Mr. Whitaker has acquired more than 26 years of litigation experience over the course of his distinctive career in IP law. Since joining AIPLA in 2000, he has taken a very proactive role in the advancement of the Association community and the profession through participation in several of AIPLA’s committees.

Marti Gives Insights into the US Joint Strategic Plan on Intellectual Property Enforcement

AIPLA was honored to welcome US Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Daniel H. Marti to speak at this year's Opening Plenary Session On Thurs., Oct. 27. The goal of Marti's office is to ensure our nation's enforcment actions keep pace with innovative industries and increasingly sophisticated criminal actitivies.    

Chief Judge Ruschke Shares His Insider View of USPTO

During the Thursday Luncheon, the Honorable David Ruschke, Chief Judge, Patent Trial and Appeal Board, US Patent and Trademark Office, spoke one-on-one with AIPLA's 2015-16 President Denise DeFranco. 

​WIIP Breakfast Speakers Offer Career Best Practices   

AIPLA’s Women in IP Law (WIP) Committee breakfast meeting at the 2016 Annual Meeting was a resounding success. The Committee’s Retention Advancement Subcommittee led the program with a panel discussion on Best Proven Practices to Retain and Advance Women in the IP Profession.

Each year, AIPLA honors leaders in the intellectual property community, AIPLA members, committees, and students with a variety of awards to recognize their contributions to the intellectual property field, outstanding service to AIPLA including as a committee or on a particular project, excellence in serving as a Mentor, in writing about an intellectual property issue, or in studying intellectual property law.
