1/31/2011
ARLINGTON, VA  Albert Tramposch, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Deputy Executive Director, International and Regulatory, today was selected to serve as the United States Patent and Trademark Office Administrator for Policy and External Affairs.

In his new position, he will provide policy advice to Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO David Kappos, will oversee the office’s work on patent law legislation, and will assume responsibility for the negotiation and implementation of international intellectual property (IP) treaties. He will start in this new position on February 14, 2011.

Tramposch came to AIPLA in 2009 to assume principal day-to-day responsibility for international intellectual property issues of concern to the Association and issues relating to the USPTO.

“Albert has been a wonderful asset for AIPLA, as I’m sure he will be for the Office as well, said AIPLA Executive Director Q. Todd Dickinson. “We will surely miss him at AIPLA, but we are gratified to know that our working relationship will continue as he applies his talents to government service.”
