Arlington, VA—Phillip S. Johnson, a board member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), will be honored June 7 as the 2013 Jefferson Medalist by the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association (NJIPLA). The Jefferson Medal is presented to someone who has made exceptional contributions to the field of intellectual property law.
"Phil Johnson is one of the great IP professionals whose career has been marked by a breadth of knowledge and commitment that is almost unmatched, " said Jeffrey I.D. Lewis, AIPLA President. "Whether as a first chair litigator, chief IP counsel to a major innovation company or a key architect of statutory reform, Phil has been there," said Lewis.
"Phil is the Zelig of our profession" said AIPLA Executive Director Q.Todd Dickinson. "Very little gets done without him, and we are a better profession because of his dedicated service."
said Dickinson.
Former Medalists in the 63-year program include judges, member of Congress, Patent & Trademark Office officials and leaders of the intellectual property bar. Johnson will be presented with the Jefferson Medal on June 7 at the annual NJIPLA Jefferson Medal Dinner in Short Hills, NJ.
AIPLA, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, was founded in 1897 to maintain a high standard of professional ethics, to aid in the improvement in laws relating to intellectual property and in their proper interpretation by the courts, and to provide legal education to the public and to its members on intellectual property issues.
