Q: How do I log on to the website?

A: Go to http://www.aipla.org. The Home page has a section where you can log in. If it is your first time logging in, click on “Click to Join AIPLA,” and enter in your email address. When you log back in, your email address will be your login User Name. If you are not a member, then your email address will not exist in our system, in which case, you can then click “Register Now” to register and create an account and password. The next time you login, you will use the email address you used to create your account as your login User Name. If it is not your first time and you forgot your password, see the answer to the question below to find out how to retrieve your password. We recommend that you log in before exploring the website, as several areas can only be viewed by Members of the Association.

Please NOTE: You must have cookies enabled!

A: Go to “About AIPLA,” and click on “Join AIPLA.” In the middle of the page, you’ll see a link to the “Membership Benefits Brochure.”

Q: How can I become a member of AIPLA?

A: We have several membership categories covering a range of professionals in the Intellectual Property Law field. To see if you qualify for membership and to find more information about AIPLA dues, go to "About AIPLA," and click on the link for “Join AIPLA.” Then, you can look through the “Membership Categories and Rates.” After you discover whether or not you qualify, you can either “Join Today” online or download the application.

Q: Can I apply for AIPLA membership online?

A: Yes! You can join AIPLA through the website by either clicking the “Join AIPLA” button located in the top left hand corner of the website or by going to the Member Center and clicking on the “Join AIPLA” link.

Q: I am not sure which membership category I fit into. Who should I contact to determine this?

A: Our Membership Department will be able to help you find the right fit for your situation. Contact them at membership@aipla.org or ask for the Membership Department at 703-415-0780 at any time if you have a question. You can also click here to download a hard copy of the membership application, which outlines the different member categories and fees.

Q: Can I pay my dues/renew my membership online?

A: Yes. Once you’ve logged into the site, click on “Member Center.” Click on the icon that says “Renew.” If your dues are not current, the screen will prompt you to pay them online. If you are paid up for the membership year, a notice will appear on the screen letting you know.

Q: I paid my annual membership dues but just received a past due notice. Who do I talk to about this?

A: Our Membership Department works very hard to ensure that all records are kept as up-to-date as possible. Even so, occasionally, a dues notice and its payment may cross in the mail. If you are unsure about your membership status, contact our Membership Department at membership@aipla.org or ask for the Membership Department at 703-415-0780. They will be more than happy to assist you.

Q: Do I get a membership discount for being a solo practitioner or working at a small law firm?

A: Yes. There is a 5% discount for qualified Regular and Junior members who are employed by firms with two or fewer practicing attorneys. Please contact AIPLA headquarters at 703-415-0780 to find out if you are a qualified member.

Q: Is my firm a member of AIPLA?

A: No. AIPLA is an individual membership organization and we currently do not have a firm membership category.

Q: How can I find/contact an AIPLA member?

A: You must be a member of AIPLA to access our Member Directory. First, log in to the website as a member. From the Home page, go to the Member Center. Then, click on “Member Directory.”  After reading through the Terms and Conditions, click on the link at the bottom of the page to proceed to the online member directory. On the next page, you can search by name, organization, region, member type, committee involvement, and/or practice area.

Q: Why can’t I find complete contact information in the Membership Directory?

A: As a voluntary individual membership organization, we take our members’ privacy concerns very seriously. Members have the option to be “opted out” of the directory.

Webinars/CLE

Q: What if I haven’t received the materials I need for a webinar?

A: Materials are typically emailed 24-48 hours before air time. If you haven’t received them by that time, please check your spam mail to see if they were directed there. If you still can't find it, you can contact our CLE coordinator at ralleyne@aipla.org.

A: Complete CLE information is provided on site for each meeting. If credit is needed after the event, please contact the CLE department at CLE@aipla.org.

Q: By when do I need to send in my CLE papers (attendance roster) in order to get credit for a webinar?

A: The date by which you need to send in the papers is given on the attendance roster that you received with the materials. We must receive the attendance roster in order to process CLE credits. Some states also require a completed evaluation. Please read through the materials carefully to ensure maximum accreditation.

Q: How do I get the solo practitioner rate for a webinar?

A: The solo practitioner rate is only available to members, and it is $75 for CLE-accredited webinars. If you are a member and you would like this rate, please contact the CLE department at CLE@aipla.org or contact AIPLA headquarters at 703-415-0780.
