AIPLA continues to provide a strong collective voice in the Courts, in Congress, with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and international organizations.
-
AIPLA continues to speak out on issues affecting PTO procedures and management. We will continue to submit comments to proposed rulemakings and monitor the implementation of the PTO's 21st Century Strategic Plan and the improvements expected as a result of passage of the Fee Bill.
- AIPLA has upheld its strong advocacy role in the courts. We filed amici briefs in SmithKline Beecham Corp. v. Dudas, Quanta Computer, Inc, v. L.G. Electronics, Inc, Egyptian Goddess v. Swisa, Inc., and ITC, Ltd., v. Punchgini, Inc. The complete briefs are posted on the website, click the link above to view the briefs.

Several AIPLA Committees are working on the Association's legislative agenda and considering a spectrum of issues needing legislative reform. To facilitate this activity, the Board has adopted a procedure whereby substantive law committees make review of, and regularly report to the Board on, potential legislative initiatives.
- AIPLA partnered with the National Academies Board on Science Technology and Economics (STEP) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on a series of “town hall meetings” to discuss recommendations for patent law reform. This important dialogue was designed to solicit the stakeholders’ participation about what the problems are and what changes need to be made. Additional information, including transcripts, can be viewed by clicking HERE.
