 The Public Appointments Committee consists of members chosen by the President-Elect by geographical distribution to provide opportunity for personal acquaintance of one or more members with candidates for office coming under committee consideration.
Committee members consider the qualifications of any members of the bar, referred to it by the Board of Directors, who are ready, willing, and able to accept appointments to office in the courts of the United States; and report in confidence to the Board of Directors with respect to a candidate, the name of the candidate, the vacancy involved, a statement by the committee that in its opinion the candidate is qualified, and any other information the committee believes useful to the Board.
The activities of the committee shall be maintained in confidence at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
