AIPLA Arbitration and Mediation Registry

As part of the AIPLA's commitment to facilitate the informed use of various alternative dispute resolution procedures to more efficiently resolve intellectual property disputes, in 1995 AIPLA Board of Directors adopted an ADR policy statement. The Federal Litigation Committee and the ADR Committee are currently working on an ADR brochure to distribute to all members.

As another service to our members, the Board has also adopted the enclosed revised and updated "AIPLA Arbitration and Mediation Registry" form (below). This form will be used to create a listing of those AIPLA members who are willing to serve as neutrals (arbitrators, mediators, early neutral evaluators and the like), who have completed at least eight hours of training, and who have five years experience as an attorney. The form provides additional biographical information about the neutrals to allow more informed selection. You may, of course, submit an amended form or withdraw from the registry at any time.

Be sure your submissions are clear and legible since we will be copying and sending these papers to requesters. In addition, please note the last item (#13). Unless you indicate otherwise, any voluntary feedback received about you will be made available upon request.

The registry is voluntary and the AIPLA does not endorse any particular neutral nor can it undertake to verify the credentials listed. There will be a fee of $50 for members listed on the registry to cover the cost of administration. Members who would like to be listed should submit their completed form to AIPLA Headquarters, along with a check for $50.00 to cover the administration costs. Anyone interested in receiving training to qualify for the registry should contact ADR Committee Chair and Vice-Chair, Paul Burns (paul.burns@gknet.com) and Rex B. Stratton (stratton@strattonballew.com), respectively.
