Effective July 18, 2005, the PTO is reducing trademark filing fees under certain circumstances when an applicant uses the Trademark Electronic Application System ("TEAS") to file an application for registration on the Principal Register under Section 1 and/or Section 44 of the Trademark Act.
The new filing procedure is called TEAS Plus. Applications that qualify for TEAS Plus status will be charged a filing fee of $275/class, a $50 reduction of the fee charged for applications filed electronically through the regular TEAS system, and a $100 reduction of the fee charged for applications filed on paper.
In order to qualify for the reduced filing fee under TEAS Plus, an applicant must meet specific requirements. AIPLA offers this online program to train you and your staff on the new TEAS Plus requirements and how to use the new TEAS Plus system. Because of the rapid roll-out on this program, limited CLE will be available.
